What People Are Saying

"The days I spent aboard were the best of my year. By the end, my stomach was sore from laughing so hard all day, every day. The atmosphere aboard SALTS just feels friendly and safe, like a home."

Image by Judah Specht   " Now to tell you I had the time of my life would be the understatement of the year...The day we disembarked at Port Hardy, it wasn't like saying goodbye to a friend. It was like saying goodbye to a close family, that means the absolute world to you. This is the environment that‘s created on these trips and one you can't begin to fathom.

I was swept up by the crew and trainees of the SALTS program. I've never felt so blessed, humbled, accepted, emotional, and proud in all my life. This experience has truly changed my life and was worth every cent. I have a lump in my throat, a tear in my eye, and a smile on my face writing this because I know it means goodbye for now. But not forever. I am 1000000% coming back. I cannot thank everyone on this voyage enough nor the SALTS team for providing such an inspiring and adventurous program."
- Joel (Summer 2018 Trainee)

"Being on a tall ship is such an exceptional experience. It's easy to forget about video games when there's so much to do here."
-Raphael (Spring 2018 Trainee)

This was an amazing life changing, incredible experience I could never forget, I'm so thankful to have been able to experience this with my wonderful class, 7C. This is something that put some of us outside our comfort zone and really brought us so much closer (literally, if you're in 7C you know what I mean) anyway, thank you so much SALTS for this once in a lifetime opportunity! 10/10 for sure."
- Ally (Spring 2018 Trainee)

"I was challenged to grow in who I was, and in my relationship with God, all the while surrounded by the beauty of Canada's west coast. It's something I will cherish forever.

I got to build relationships with my watch mates and watch leaders that will last long into the future. The people I met and the community aboard the ship is the part I enjoyed most about the trip. How close we all

got to each other over the ten days is something that I wish to duplicate in the town where I live, and inspired me to reach out and try to create a similar community."

Anonymous responses to annual surveys:

"I came expecting to have the worst time in my life. I left not wanting to ever go home. SALTS changed my life. I felt at home there. It really felt like a family. I would give anything to go back to that week. I was the happiest I've ever been, and I don't understand why! Thank-you so much!!!"

"While aboard the Swift, I felt that I could be open and honest with the people around me, and not worry about being judged. The opinions and views of the people I knew were thrown away, and I had the freedom of expressing what I really was inside."

"I became more aware that every one of my classmates was having problems and I wasn't the only one. I grew closer to my classmates and my class literally changed on how we acted towards each other."
