INFORMATION FOR VOLUNTEER CREW APPLICANTS
The SALTS Sail and Life Training Society is a non-profit interdenominational Christian organization which believes that sail training provides an ideal medium for young people to develop mentally, physically and spiritually. The Society owns and operates the 111' topsail schooner, Pacific Swift , built during Vancouver's EXPO'86 as a working exhibit as well as the 130' schooner Pacific Grace , built at the SALTS Heritage Shipyard and commissioned in May 2001.
Though technical skills and seamanship have a high priority in some jobs, the ability to work with young people, to spend time with them and respond to their spiritual needs is vital in all positions.
Volunteer positions are available primarily in July and August each year during the SALTS Summer Sail Training program -five 10-day trips cruising in the waters around Vancouver Island.
