Bursaries for Youth from Challenging Life Situations
Bursaries help make the SALTS program accessible to young people from all walks of life. At least fifty young people receive a bursary each year. Past bursary recipients included young people from low income families, youth from abusive homes or considered "at risk", childhood cancer patients/survivors, recent immigrants, and young people with cognitive disabilities (brain injury, autism, asperger's syndrome, etc.) SALTS allocates $35000 to bursary funding annually through generous donors to our bursary fund. We would love to increase this investment as donations allow! Other community organizations also provide bursary funding. DONATE HERE!
Annual bursary spending includes:- $15,000 for a four-day Group Sailing in March with a community partner organization. Past partners (see photos at right) are Power to Be Adventure Therapy, The Cridge Centre for the Family, and BC Children's Hospital Oncology Department.
- $20,000 for full/partial Summer Program Bursaries based on financial need (funded by the members and supporters of SALTS)

- Rotary Club of Parksville

| No matter what your ability, your age or where you come from it did not matter once you stepped onto the Pacific Grace. The experience... created a strong sense of community, equality and collective strength. A highlight for me was seeing youth... supporting others on the ship that had developmental or mobility challenges. |
