Swift Stories | Summer 2025
During our summer trips, crew members take turns blogging about their adventures while they're at sea. The following are excerpts from the Pacific Swift's blog, written during Trip 2.
At night fall we were treated to a beautiful moon rise however the wind out of the NW also rose, slowing our progress.
Day 2: After clawing our way through the night, we found ourselves at the southern end of the Malaspina Strait and then entering Agamemnon Channel. By lunchtime we were moored in Hotham Sound and were able to enjoy a much needed, refreshing swim.

At 1430 we set off to catch slack water at Malibu Rapids, arriving at our anchorage in Princess Louisa Inlet in the dark, which made getting our stern line ashore an adventure!
Day 3: What a fantastic day of lessons, swimming in the ocean (using the rope swing), and enjoying the beauty of the powerful Chatterbox Falls! In the evening we weighed anchor to raft up to Pacific Grace and enjoy games and singing together.

Day 5: We were escorted away from the anchorage by a school of Pacific Whiteside dolphins, before setting full sail and beating our way North towards Teakerne Arm where we joined Pacific Grace in front of one of our favourite spots, Cassel Lake Falls.
Day 6: After trips to the falls and the lake, with all hands feeling refreshed, we slipped lines from Pacific Grace and continued northward through Yuculta Rapids and Dent Rapids. Our passage was graced by soaring eagles overhead and numerous sport fishing vessels. Continuing north we found a spot for our anchor in Frederick Arm.

Day 7: The wind has been blowing hard in Johnstone Strait out of the Northwest so taking a bit of a “backdoor” route is allowing us to hopefully avoid some seasickness. Leaving Frederick Arm we hit Green Point Rapids near slack and then Whirlpool Rapids a bit early but with no adverse effects. Our anchorage is Forward Harbour where we enjoy our “Boat Sunday” supper and service, which was a fantastic time of reflection on the things we’ve been learning and education of one another. Our community has come together very well as all lean into the opportunities to be supportive and encouraging to one another. We are excited for what the next days will bring!
