Where & When

Spend your first week of the summer among the beautiful Gulf Islands while learning to sail a traditional tall ship. Depart from Victoria, BC and sail north through the Salish Sea with great opportunities for wildlife sightings, including humpback and orca whales, sea lions, otters, bald eagles, and a variety of coastal birds.

2026 Cost

Total Fees: $1,460.00

All meals, sail training materials, applicable park fees, and taxes (5% GST) are included.

REGISTRATION FEE - $150
Non-refundable once a trip assignment has been offered*
The registration fee is due at the time the trip request is submitted.

 

TRIP FEE - $1,310.00
Refundable until May 1, 2026*
The trip fee is typically paid in 2 equal payments, and a schedule is provided with your trip assignment. Payment schedule example for new registrations:
First payment $655.00 Due within 7 days of receiving the trip assignment notification.
Final payment $655.00 Due May 1st

Registration Steps

  • Receive your trip assignment offer or wait list notification email.
  • Pay the first trip fee payment or submit your bursary application at this time.
  • Receive your reservation confirmation email!

Step 3

  • You will receive instructions to complete your online Trainee Profile and waiver form(s).
  • When your Trainee Profile and waiver forms are complete, you will receive an email to confirm your registration for your Summer 2026 SALTS voyage!

SALTS strongly recommends the purchase of private travel insurance to cover trip cancellation/interruption due to unexpected medical or other circumstances such as transportation provider cancellations or delays.

All trips are subject to compliance with the orders, guidance and protocols of BC's Provincial Health Officer, the BCCDC, WorkSafe BC, Transport Canada, BC Parks and Parks Canada, as well as local First Nations and coastal communities.




We acknowledge with respect the lək'wəŋən peoples (known today as the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations) and the WSÁNEĆ peoples on whose traditional territory we live and work, and the MÁLEXEŁ (Malahat), Quw’utsun, Semiahma, Snuneymuxw, Stz ’uminus, and sc'əwaθən məsteyəxw (Tsawwassen) peoples, whose traditional territory we travel to and visit during our 5-day programs, all of whose historical relationships with the land and sea continue to this day.
